samantha robinson porcelain

sooooo i was blog hopping this morning and stumbled upon Samantha Robinsons porcelain creations and am just absolutely in LOVE with them. first off all they are porcelain, which if you've been reading for any length of time is quite a turn on for me. second they are beautiful and so unique and third, she herself is a wicked girl with an even more wicked website.  ahh i just can't get enough of them, so perfect.

i switched some shifts around and now have THREEEEEEEE days off! what ever shall we do with ourselves? some possibilities are...
-going to a beautiful white sandy beach for the day and throwing the frisbee around, sunning and eating ice cream
-driving up to haliburton to ...well i don't really know what we would do up there...but it really is gorgeous just to drive around
-go out for breaky
-watch movies
-make sangria
-for some reason i am craving tacos...so maybe make some homemade salsa with the tomatoes and hot peppers that are finally ripening in the garden

i'll be swinging you around

lately i've been on the hunt for a new notebook. a nice compact place to keep my thoughts, lists and calendars. i've been using my blackberry, which does the job very efficiently...but its just not the same. i like to write. to see how my printing changes depending on my mood, or the place or any number of factors. my notebooks are a direct relation to how my life is going at the time. full of lists and check-marks if i need to be productive, imagination and colours if i am feeling dreamy.

i never really plan on buying a notebook...they always seem to come into my life at the right time. i have a few in storage i could dig out but maybe i'm a romantic but i just want to meet the perfect one and fall in love with it.

the following are some that caught me eye on etsy.... i'm really loving this first doily journal made with recycled record covers.

letter to an occupant

my dear dearest dawn.

i think about you every time i see a bow. every time i listen to MIA paper planes. every time i see roller skates and floppy red hats. i think about you when i compare any coffee cake to yours or when i smell baking in the middle of the night. when i need a BLT in the morning i think about eating them with you in mars food. when i see red station wagons, green bicycles or hand made pottery i can't help but to think about you too.

you and your wicked quirky ways. the way you ADD clean your room and meet me back in the living room in ten for a bong. wondering if we are bringing doug? do you got doug? wheres doug? the way that 2 in the morning was the perfect time to bake cupcakes if it weren't for the pesky fire alarm. the way the we don't got any bagels man.

if i could go back we'd be sitting in the bovine, smiles blinding our eyes, maybe a pole dance or two. i'll go to the bathroom with you.

riding our bikes home, too drunk to keep our eyes open. lady in power, what power?
who do? you do.

i miss you missy.

and tomorrow i have to call you. one month exactly to when you walk down the aisle. and tell you i won't be in the audience. won't be there to wish you all the happiness in the world, half a world away.

fucking money. gets me every time.

i'll miss your special day pretty lady. i'll miss your biggest smile yet, your loudest laugh, your first day of the rest of your life. and i feel pretty shitty about that darling.

love you. always have always will. save a dance for me pretty lady.

thursdays things

some random things i got enjoyment out of this morning.....

chai tea with milk and sugar
this adorable little cutie. also knows as Zoe. also known as my step niece.

a bottle cutting kit! for only 24.99 from urban outfitters.

these coloured headphones that i may just have to splurge on. perfect for keeping my ears toasty warm in cold toronto weather. ebay

today way supposed to be rainy and gross but the sun is coming out and i might take that opportunity to take a little bike ride and get some fresh air. i started my sewing project last night and after becoming completely frustrated with the machine i realized the stitch was set to button hole. DUh.... anyway, all better now and the secret sewing project is coming out nicely.

oh! and my camera cord finally came in the mail (lost my charge cord, sad day, had to buy another on ebay) so i have a million pictures to upload and organize and post!

Guess what?!

I'm DONNNNNE

i'm done school. i'm finished. there are no projects waiting for me to finish them, nothing nagging at the back of my mind that i should be working on.

if you'd like to see what i have been working on the past little while you can check out my thesis at www.mycreativeadthesis.blogspot.com hehe. my thesis has a blog. seriously.

AHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh freedom.

and on that note the next big thing i am going to throw myself into is making an etsy store with my cousin. she makes all kinds of cute things and needs someplace to sell them. and i haven't made much yet BUT have had a million idea i've just had to keep telling myself i could do them once i finished school and i didn't have time to sew things when i should be writing essays. now thats all over with i'm going into this full force. i'm off to the fabric store in just over an hour to get some canvas to make something. which i can't actually tell you because its going to be a secret package for my package exchange friend margaret of paper pastries.

in the inspiration folder this week were these wicked hanging plants. how cool do these look?

and also this house tour from apartment therapy.

mostly because i have had this wall decal for almost two years now and haven't had the chance to use it. i move around way to much to commit to loosing one of these decals. anyway, i think they used it in a really cool way and i love just happening upon these decals in different settings.
also their use of royal blue and yellow in a bedroom is awesome and i want something in these colours now.

now that i am finished school i am committing myself to the following things: (no more excuses!)
blogging WAY more frequently
experiment more with fabric, sewing, and general crafty-ness
open up an etsy store
research and GET a wicked job in toronto
continue to sell and minimize our belongings until we have only what we need to live and what makes us happy. no extra baggage.

its a new start. i've worked hard to be where i am and i'm looking forward to seeing where it will take me.

you don't know jacques

i found a random folder on my computer labeled inspiration so obviously i clicked on it. the following pictures were in side and i'm glad i stumbled across them today. such a nice surprise.

they are a random jumble of awesome pictures which i feel perfectly matches this post of a random perfect day i had today.

this morning we woke up bright and early in our gorgeous hotel room downtown (with a roof top pool and hot tub!!) so that the president could drive me to my exam. usually i am so bad giving him directions. i wait to long to say things and then its like..ahhhh turn now! right! or even better is when i just get my pointing finger out and don't use directions at all. drives him nuts. super crazy. anyway this morning i had perfect navigation and combined with his driving we were on a mission. made it to the school early and wrote the bitch moderately difficult exam. and ta da! one more thing on my list completed.

driving home this afternoon, its the summer, music blaring, shades on, sunroof open, boyfriend sleeping beside me, finishing school finally. its all coming together.

i bought some new nail polish this afternoon. OPI my favorite brand. on SALE. also my favorite. the president picked out grey when we first got to the store and i was thinking that would be boring but the more i thought about it, the more i liked it. so i bought dark purple and grey. which i realized after were the colours i painted my last bedroom, exactly. and i love that bedroom so heres to hoping i will like it just as much on my nails.

i got a lovely packing in the mail this afternoon. something i have been waiting for patiently, and soooo excited it finally came. it deserves its own post so i won't ruin the surprise.

this afternoon was too beautiful to stay inside so off we went to the beach to enjoy the gorgeous sunshine. we played frisbee in the sand and i think i found a sporty thing that i am decent at. the president is such a coordinated, strong, sporty guy so i pretty much don't have a chance at any of the other sports we have tried. frisbee though...i'm getting there. it was fun to run around, get sweaty and laugh at each others catches and then cool off in the lake. we truely do live in a beautiful part of the world, for three months of the year anyway.

once i bought the nail polish i was looking at all the colours around me and deciding if i would like to wear that colour on my nails. i noticed that most new cars are colours i would wear as nail polish. not necessarrily the silver colours but the dark purple, red and deep blue cars made me want nail polish in that colour. even some of the greens and oranges. maybe thats taking it too far. i saw one lady who had dealer plates on the back of her new car and her nails matched the wicked deep red colour. i feel like matching my nails to my brand new car would be something i would do.

i realized today i am 80 years old. i really am.

and i'm pretty okay with that. old ladies can be so sweet and by the time i am actually old i will know all the tricks inside and out.

coffee and menthols

well helloooOOoo

its been a little hectic in this neck of the woods. lateeeeely.

had a pile and a half of homework to do so instead of being productive i roadtripped off to montreal for three days with the BESTEST best friend of life. so much fun! it was my first time going and i know i will be back. the city was so welcoming, very un-toronto in that way. three times in the city people approached us asking if we needed directions. we didn't even have time to get the map out! so nice when your in a city you don't know and especially when you don't speak the same language.

we went bike riding, hill climbing, wine drinking, poutine eating, espresso sipping, finger puppeting, vintage finding, friend making, balcony rearranging and thunderstorm watching.

and i'm so glad it could have been with this special best friend because she is moving far away to france very very soon and i may not see her for a while. i'm so glad i will have this trip to think about and remember when i miss her and i think it worked out beautifully for both of us. thanks for inviting me!

i don't have any pictures of the trip except for the ones i took on my blackberry because i am waiting to get a new charger for my camera and it hasn't come yet. it was nice though, to walk around and not feel guilty for taking pictures of everything beautiful (and there was a lot). it was liberating. and made me more alert to the different colours and textures because i was studying them to remember them in my head instead of always having them on my computer. there was so many colours there, buildings in every shade beside each other, paint peeling and revealing new colours underneath. sometimes half a building was one colour while the other half was three. there were so many balconies and rooftops i'm sure the city is enjoyed from all vantage points, not just the street. there is something about sitting on a balcony, people watching without them knowing, being closer to the sun. i loved it.
