orange

oranges on the step

i realized i hadn't been crediting my pictures the last few days and i'm not really sure why. usually i'm pretty good about that..but anyway, if i didn't credit something that you made or would like credit for please just let me know and i will fix that right up!

orange leaves

today the president is away at a job interview/information session for most of the day. i won't say much incase he decides he doesn't want the job or it doesn't work out for any reason but it would be the perfect position for him and i'm looking forward to him making some money with it.
orange rolodex

that leaves me here alone for most of the day, but i don't really mind. in fact i sort of enjoy it. i loved living alone. doing everything on my own schedule. making my own messes. thats the number one thing about living with someone else, one minute the apartment is clean and the next it look like a bomb went off. two people making messes is far greater then one person making a mess alone plus another person alone.

green

the colour green reminds me of grass, frogs, salads, my morning coffee cup, my nanas eyes, fields of corn and my favorite band t shirt.
i'm a big fan of the vegetables so green is the colour of many of my favorite things to eat. my favorite green food is hands down broccoli, followed by cucumber, beans, and spinach. yummmm. green is good for you.
green is a balancing colour, in the middle of the visible spectrum. the higher three colours are known as the "cool" colours and are calming in effect, the lower three are known as the "warm" colours and have a stimulating effect. green is the balance between these two. fact.

today we are listing a bunch of stuff on our ebay account. check it out -i've got a bunch of fossil watches we are selling, plus a LOVELY matt and nat grey purse, my old camera, a green fossil purse, fossil sunglasses, and some american apparel shirts. we will be updating it over the next day or two so check back often!

monday is YELLOOOOW

poppytalk is doing a fall colour week (Mon::Yellow; Tue::Green; Wed::Orange; Thu::Brown; Fri::Red) and i lovvvvve fall colours more then anything so i thought i would play along as well. here are my favorite yellow picks from my internet rounds..

my favorite yellow food would have to be banana popsicles. not very 'fall' like but sometimes i just crave them like crazy. like at this very moment.

my favorite yellow piece of clothing is my new matt and nat purse that i absolutely adore. its so perfect. most of my clothing is pretty nutral so i love having such an awesome coloured bag to bring some life to all my outfits. it also looks amazing with my new fall jacket that is navy blue and has a hood!

random fact: i think if i was to ever get married in such a way that i would need to decide on my wedding 'colours' i would pick yellow/gold and navy. they just go so perfectly together. but i'll probably just end up getting married in such a carefree way that it would never come up.

yellow reminds of my bedroom when i was little, sunshine, lemons, the perfect sunset, and tea towels.

a lovely link list

Helloooo. so lately there have been a lot of different people viewing this blog. most coming back often enough for my stat counter to be more of a continuous rise instead of an occasional blip. i have been meaning to update my link list (in the sidebar) for a while now and would love to recognize anyone who visits my little nook of the internet. so! if you would like your blog link to appear in my sidebar leave me a little comment with your blog url and consider it done!
also, don't hesitate to comment more...it motives me!

update: don't all comment at once now my dear secretive readers. ps i love you

coffee grounds

this morning is one of those lazy sunday mornings where it took two lattes to wake this little sleepy head up. lattes you say? how are you just drinking lattes at home? MY NEW ESPRESSO MACHINE!!!!
we got it for a wicked deal on ebay, less then half the price of buying it in The Bay.

it makes espresso has a milk frother little arm for lattes, cappuccinos and macchiatos (espresso with a little bit of foam on top). yummmm.

its so perfect and makes excellent coffee. with a regular pot of percolated coffee we always ended up wasting half the pot because bleck i can't drink more then a cup and half of perc coffee.

i have to drive home again this afternoon because i found out i have a doctors appt tomorrow that i forgot about. kind of a bummer, i hate driving on long trips by myself. i'm not very motivated to start the drive...which may account for the need for multiple doses of caffine. but on the bright side a home cooked dinner of ribs and apple crisp waits for me when i get there.
have a wonderful relaxing sunday if that is what your choosing to do!

summer thunder

its raining for the first time since we moved to toronto. even though its saturday we are just staying in and watching shows. we don't have cable so the president downloads seasons of shows and i consequently get addicted to them and can't stop watching episode after episode after episode. our latest addictions have been mad men, house, entourage, jon and kate plus 8 (my guilty pleasure) and cbc documentaries.

sometimes a night curled up on the couch is better then any bar or restaraunt we shouldn't be spending money on anyway.

i bought some sun flowers the other day. they caught my attention because 1) they are my new favorite colour YELLOW 2) they seem to represent fall and we needed some seasonal decor at the new apartment and 3) i may or may not have wanted to be THAT GIRL that walks down the street smiling and holding a bouquet of sunflowers. mission accomplished.

i need a job. big time. i wish i could just blog for a living. i know some people who do that, and i am beyond jealous that they can. maybe whon dai.

i made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and it was delish. there is something about that meal that is so comforting. this thought is brought to you by two shots of amaretto on ice.

london fog

Good morning!

I found these adorable and very colourful little 'kitchen tidy's' this morning and had to share them. they are of course made out of porcelain and are painted the most yummy colours. they can be used for sauces, dips, resting a spoon on while cooking, a dripping tea bag when your away from the sink or so many other things...i would be tempted to hang these on the wall in the tiny space that always happens between the stove and the cupboards. so adorable.
the president and i are planning a trip home for a few days to bring another carload of our things to the big city as well as do a couple things for family at home. i'm looking forward to the long car ride and blasting the toons. its funny how i used to have to drive everywhere and was constantly in and out of the car and now we live in the city i hardly ever get to go in the car and enjoy a good drive. i miss it. i love our little car, its just the perfect little guy. he is small and for being an old car has automatic everything. except being standard...which i used to curse but now i know how to drive standard, i love it. i used to think there was no way having more things to think about when driving would be good for me, a self confessed cellphone talker/scenery looker/generally not paying attention to driving haha. BUT really and honestly driving standard is easier because it keeps my focus on what the car is doing and how fast i am going and what is coming up ahead and how fast i need to slow down.

anywayyyyyy, we are off to the country for a day or two, have a great day!

when i stumbled across these adorable missed connections illustrations i was instantly in love. maybe i'm a sucker for love at first glance or the possibility that a moment shared between two strangers can mean something deeper. internally important enough to need to try and find that person again and justify thier feelings. missed connections takes people from anonymous travelers -frames that moment in the only medium we have.

sophie blackall takes this moment one step further and illustrates her interpretation of these missed connection listings. they are romantic and sweet. "Every day hundreds of strangers reach out to other strangers on the strength of a glance, a smile or a blue hat. Their messages have the lifespan of a butterfly. I'm trying to pin a few of them down."

asked myself why the letter 'n' all night long, then you were gone before i got a chance to ask. also, i saved you a piece of cake. do you always sit in a circle of asian girls? and sit at the top of the stairs so everyone gets a crush on you when they get to the roof?

Remember? Uptown A train. Sunday at around 9pm. I was the black dude reading Bukowski's Post Office. You were reading the Arts and Leisure section. You passed wind rather loudly and started chuckling. I'd like to see you again. The flatulence wasn't a turn-off.

So yea...um, looking for the girl who I was dancing with last night, she bit me twice. I forget her name.

yellow and red

so today was the day the internet was supposed to work or so i thought until i read the fine print and it says they have until 5pm that day to activate it. bummmmer. anyway, its 4:46 and i'm at starbucks....will i go home to magic internet access?? i can only hope.

I had three dreams last night about checking my gmail. i'm seriously deprived here.

in the mean time i had a lot of time to get some projects finished that i've been putting off. I finished a logo for a music production company...will show it once i've finalized it with the client, she still has some decisions to make about the final look.

i also made these cute little address stickers for our ebay store! i was constantly writing out our address on packages to send out across the world and i wanted something a little more professional and little cuter. here is this finished product. it was super easy, i just bought the labels at the stationary store and then logged onto the website and they had templates to follow to make sure the images lined up with the labels. the hardest part was getting the printer to figure out how to print on 6 by 4 paper.

also if you feel like being pen pals there is no excuse now....

if anyone would like be to do any design work for them i would love the opprotunity! i'm currently looking for a new job and pretty much have all the time in the world to work on anything you feel like throwing my way. we could even do a swap, my skills for your crafty works.

fingers crossed i go home now to high speed internet!

break the silence, damn the dark, damn the light

yesterday i bought some really cute black flats. big surprise, i have a gazillion pairs of black flats...they are just so versatile. love them to bits, they are made by soda but i bought them at winners so way cheaper.
i also bought $400 worth of other stuff in winners too. YIKES.

i think i got really excited when i actually found stuff i liked. usually winners is just somewhere we go to shop for the president -i've hardly ever found anything i bought. i don't know why that made me go crazy for long enough to get through the cash out but good strategy winners. it worked.

i did, though, in fairness to myself, by a purse i will be listing on ebay to sell because i know i've been looking for one just like it for a long time and winners had it for more then 50% off retail. its matt and nat and just beautiful. the perfect shade of gray, the perfect size, so nice.

i bought one for myself too though. in yellow. ha.
back to school shopping is awesome. it might be what i look forward to most when i have kids.

i'm just a sucker for stationary and paper and PAPER ORGANIZERS and day planners. oh my. pens, markers, glue sticks, notebooks, labels and now everything in my life is going to be labeled.

five days until the move. five days!!! 1 2 3 4 55555555.

just enough time to make back all the money i just spent.

i love the feeling when you know your leaving a job and things are so on the edge to begin with and everyday i go into work with the attitude that if i would be okay with them firing me, just means i get to move to toronto sooner. really, no downside. i'm not a bad employee i just have zero motivation to go above and beyond the bare minimum. i still treat my customers great, but sweeping the bathroom? nope. i work in a restaraunt which means i get paid server minimum wage. which means i'm there to serve and have that low wage compensated by tips. not spend my time cleaning mirrors or weeding the gardens outside. not a chance.

anyway where i was going with this is i don't need this job anymore, my mind is already past it. i just have to physically get through the next few days. long weekend in cottage county, no rain forcasted? lets get started.
all prints from triinity's etsy shop.
